Mobster's "Man Purse," Tommy Shots Carries A Handbag
Grizzled Colombo mob boss Thomas "Tommy Shots" Gioeli, who earned his nickname after being shot several times in an ambush, was keen on toting a fashionable European-style clutch, according to a search warrant unsealed in Brooklyn federal court yesterday.
The FBI rifled through Gioeli's "man purse" in January, finding cellphones and pagers that they hope will connect him to a string of racketeering crimes, including murder, according to the documents.
According to men's-fashion expert Karlo Steel, who runs the Atelier New York clothing store, Gioeli's purse simply shows him to be "an urban dweller on the go" who may need an extra pocket for his ChapStick, sunglasses -- or gun, in this case.
