Former Crackhead Prostitute Sentenced to 20 Years for Fingering Wrong Guy In Mob Hit
A former crackhead prostitute convicted of fingering the wrong man for a stone-cold mob killer in a Bronx tavern in 1999 was sentenced yesterday to 20 years to life in prison.
"No human being should ever die the way my husband did, with his eyes wide open and blood pouring from nine bullet holes," wrote Ei leen Brown, wife of victim Joseph Brown, in a let ter read during the sentencing of Kim Hanzlick.
"Her actions led to the homicide of good man," said the letter.
Hanzlick, now 45, walked into Frenchy's Tavern in Throggs Neck on March 21, 1999, and, according to another accomplice, identified a man sitting inside as Thomas Brown -- a drug dealer involved in a dispute with mob hit man Joseph Meldish. But the man she pointed out was actually Thomas' look-alike brother, Joseph Brown.
Afterward, Meldish walked in and calmly shot Joseph Brown in front of his wife.
