Judge orders Gambino soldier to speed up restitution to NASCAR

A Gambino crime-family mobster who owes thousands of dollars to NASCAR needs to put the pedal to the metal.
Mob soldier Ernest Grillo was ordered by a federal judge yesterday to speed up restitution payments he owes for shaking down NASCAR back in 2006, when the racing association was contemplating the construction of a stock-car track on Staten Island.
After sending Grillo to prison on extortion-conspiracy charges, Brooklyn federal Judge Jack Weinstein also ordered the wiseguy to pay $4,000 to NASCAR and $27,248 to a cement firm shaken down in a separate case.
Since Grillo was released from prison in April 2010, he has handed over only $1,780 in restitution payments, court records show.
A federal probation officer told the judge that Grillo now earns around $2,000 a month working as an assistant for a towing company and noted that the wiseguy lives by himself in a private house.
The judge ordered the mobster to pick up the pace and make restitution payments of $200 a month.
Grillo was previously in the news in 2006 when a mob rat testified at the trial of John Gotti’s son that the Dapper Don had claimed that he, rather than Grillo, was the biological father of a daughter named Meagan.
