Late hitman "The German" rises from the dead
This morning at sunrise, the casket of notorious Chicago killer Frank ''The German'' Schweihs was unearthed from a south suburban cemetery.
Schweihs's daughter wants to verify that the body buried after his death in 2008 was indeed that of the Mafiosi, law enforcement sources say.
Nora Schweihs obtained a court order from Cook County Judge Michael B. Hyman granting her legal permission to have the remains dug up and lab tests conducted on the corpse, sources have told the ABC7 I-Team.
Even though she was not married to the mob, Ms. Schweihs is currently a cast member on the VH1 reality show "Mob Wives Chicago" and has been on a years-long crusade to correct what she believes are public misperceptions about her late father: that he was a ruthless killer and that he was behind the killing of screen starlet Marilyn Monroe.
Among her allegations: that the FBI confiscated her father's body at the time of his death, July 23, 2008. He was serving a federal prison sentence at the time and under indictment in the Operation: Family Secrets mob murder case.
The body was exhumed this morning from St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at 87th and Hamlin in Evergreen Park...two days after the debut of the new season of Mob Wives Chicago.
