Lindsay Lohan out of John Gotti biopic
Apparently, it was a deal they could refuse.
Lindsay Lohan and producers of the John Gotti biopic couldn’t come to terms, and the “Mean Girls” actress' role was whacked from the mob movie.
"I can confirm that Lindsay has not signed on to be a part of the John Gotti movie, nor is she in talks to join the cast,” publicist Steve Honig said..
The Los Angeles publicist represents both Lohan and “Gotti” producer Fiore Films.
“It does not look like an agreement can be made,” Honig said. “Lindsay's representatives and film producers were unable to come to an agreement. Lindsay has the utmost respect for [director] Barry Levinson and the producers and hopes to work with them in the future and wishes them all the best."
The much anticipated feature “Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father” is expected to begin shooting this fall with Hollywood heavyweights John Travolta and Al Pacino in the title roles of the Gambino kingpin and underboss Aniello John “The Tall Guy” Dellacrose.
Lohan’s potential role in the flick was never confirmed but her name had been bandied about for months.
When producers staged a New York press conference to announce the “Gotti” project last year, Lohan attended the event as a blonde, in a potential nod to the gangster’s daughter Victoria Gotti.
Lohan’s been busy in Los Angeles recently, shooting a Lifetime flick on the life of screen legend Elizabeth Taylor.
Previously, Lohan called her casting in "Gotti: Three Generations" a huge honor and told The Associated Press that the film is an opportunity to prove herself as an actress again.
"I'm really excited to be back on set and clear up all the misinterpretations about me and show this is what I love to do," Lohan said.
"I think it's such an iconic story," she said. "I think it's a great story to be told. I'm honored to be working with John Travolta and Joe Pesci."
Lohan had also boasted that she had a personal connection to the Gotti family.
"My dad was in jail with the grandfather," she told us, referring to Victoria's dad, Gambino family boss John Gotti. In the late 1990s, Lohan's father, Michael, did a four-year stretch in prison, where Lohan says the jailbirds crossed paths.
Page Six reported last year that Victoria Gotti seemed less than sold on Lohan playing her in the pic. At her son Frankie Gotti's 21st birthday party, Victoria told guests, "Though it was said that I insisted she play my part, that's not true. I didn't insist and actually have no say in who gets the part." But she added, "I think Lindsay is a very talented actress and a sweet girl."
