Manocchio moved again to another prison in Atlanta
Former New England mob boss Luigi "Baby Shacks" Manocchio has been transferred again, this time to a prison in Atlanta.
The Providence Journal reports that Manocchio was moved to the new facility over the weekend from a federal prison in Petersburg, Va. Prior to that move, the 85-year-old Providence man passed through detention facilities in Rhode Island and New York.
Manocchio's attorney has asked that his client be allowed to serve his sentence in Florida, saying the warmer climate would be better for his medical conditions, including osteoarthritis, vertigo and prostate problems.
Federal authorities say Manocchio ran the New England mob from the early 1990s until 2009.
He is serving 5 1/2 years in prison for his role in the shakedown of Providence strip clubs.
