New Jersey man sentenced to one year in jail for loan sharking with the Philadelphia crime family

A New Jersey man was sentenced to 12 months and one day in prison for his participation in loan sharking activities on behalf of the Philadelphia La Cosa Nostra (LCN) Family.
In addition to jail time, 38-year-old Robert Ranieri of Glendora, NJ, was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine and three years of supervised release.
In June, Ranieri pleaded guilty to conspiring with Philadelphia LCN Family capo Anthony Staino and others to make an exorbitant loan to an undercover FBI agent and to use threats of violence to collect payments on the loan.
The case was investigated by many branches of law enforcement, including the FBI, the IRS, and the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Philadelphia Police Departments.
