Boannno associate is thrown back in jail after latest bust
Richard Sind is described by his own lawyer as a degenerate gambler.
Bonanno associate Richard Sinde was thrown back in jail Tuesday after prosecutors revealed he got pinched in the Bronx with a brass knuckles blade piece and marijuana.
"The mere fact that someone with your client's history is foolish enough to get arrested indicates to me a kind of cavalier attitude about the situation," Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Melissa Jackson said to Sinde's attorney.
Sinde was allegedly in a car with two others when cops found more than 25 grams of pot and a "metal knuckle knife" on Aug. 16, about a month after he was busted in a Viagra-peddling mob sting. Sinde claimed the knife was used for construction and tried to talk his way out of his bad fortune as court officers slapped handcuffs on him.
"I just want to say I don't take the court lightly … the knife has no knuckles and I do take bail seriously. I haven't a child and I wasn't driving," he said.
"I didn't put you in this position, sir," the judge said.
Sinde — charged in an extortion, loansharking, gambling and Viagra-selling conspiracy — was free on $300,000 bail posted by his mother, but it was revoked in court Tuesday.
His lawyer, Joel Winograd, previously said Sinde was a "degenerate gambler" who got caught up with bad guys.
