Lucchese soldier found guilty in illegal gambling case
A reputed mobster called “Boobsie” gambled in Manhattan court Friday — and lost.
Eugene Castelle, an alleged foot soldier for the Luchese crime family, had turned down a plea deal from the government that would have likely got him between eight and 14 months in prison on raps including illegal gambling and racketeering.
Castelle decided instead to fight his case before a jury and was convicted.
He now faces a sentence of between 30 to 40 months in prison, according to guidelines.
He was allowed to walk free on a $1 million bond.
Castelle was rounded up in 2016 with five other defendants for running an illegal sports-gambling website.
Castelle’s lawyer, Gerald McMahon, said his client was convicted for something that’s becoming increasingly legal in New York — the only difference, he said, is that Castelle was doing it with an “Italian veneer.
“Is gambling still a crime in America?” said. “Do we need to put him in jail for gambling? Come on.”
Castelle was prosecuted alongside Bonnano bosses Joe “Joe C” Cammarano and John “Porky” Zancioccio, who fared better in their trials earlier this year and were able to walk free after a jury acquitted them of racketeering charges.

Should of named him the "boob" all he had to do was do the 8 to 14 months in jail which would have probably been 8-9 months instead he blows trial now he might do 30 plus years, probably less hes a real brain surgeon
ReplyDeleteI meant 30 to 40 months not yrs
ReplyDelete@badboyqueensny I agree that 8 to 14 months is a sweet deal. Thats not why he didnt take that deal. Its all the rest of it, organized crime parole for 3 to 5 years after the jail time is the bitch. He cant meet people, talk to who he wants to. Plus he already had two co defendants that walked completely free after the trial. It was worth the shot. Much respect Boobsie
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, he would’ve possibly been home for the holidays it would’ve been nothing to him. My only question, I was wondering if you think it’s possible the higher ups of the Bonnano’s on trial with him told him not to plead out because it would maybe affects their cases?? Just thinking.
ReplyDeleteThese rats man it's fucked up
ReplyDeleteBasically all of these organizations are now infested with rats. The sweet deals they get from the prosecutors are insane. I do sense that jurors are starting to realize the rats are the biggest bums of all. Different softer breed these days. I also really see that there is no retribution being done to rats!! I mean Sammy the rat is hanging out at his AZ restaurant?? Out of all the people and their families he’s affected and he’s out there like nothings ever happened? Puzzles me. Doesn’t pertain to me but it’s just astounding.
