Getaway car sat in garage of Tommy Shots cousin
The cousin of Colombo crime boss Thomas "Tommy Shots" Gioeli testified Thursday that he unwittingly stored a getaway car used in the murder of an off-duty NYPD cop.
Brooklyn federal prosecutors granted Salavatore Tese immunity to testify against his kin.
Tese said he never really looked at the car Gioeli parked in the garage of his Long Island home in 1997, but recalled it was brown, U.S.-made and used.
“[Gioeli\] said he had purchased a car for one of his daughters and wasn't sure if she was going to use it,” Tese told Assistant U.S. Attorney Elizabeth Geddes.
“It stayed in my garage until I had to move,” he said.
The murder victim, Officer Ralph Dols, was marked for death because he married the ex-wife of then Colombo consigliere Joel Cacace.
